I took this class in my first semester at Emerson’s Writing and Publishing Master’s program. This class is perhaps the most practical and useful class offered in the program. Copyediting is an applicable skill in almost all professions, so to get a chance to learn this skill is extremely valuable. My instructor Daniel Weaver used a very practical approach to this class. He handed us a manuscript in the first couple weeks of class that would serve as the basis for most of our assignments. Through the semester we created initial evaluations, letters to the author, and a stylesheet. As a class we also explored the differences between APA style and Chicago Manual Style.
